Squirrel's version of corn on the cob

I knew that squirrels eat the seeds out of pinecones, but I thought they waited until they were open. Today we saw "our" squirrel harvesting green pine cones and then digging into them like they were corn on the cob. During the half hour or so we watched he polished off five cones worth of nuts.

Lake Tahoe Travelogue

This is to give you all some more information about the photos on my flickr page from our trip last weekend to Lake Tahoe. On Friday we stopped by the Donner Monument before we reached the cabin of my cousin Sue and her husband Ted, located in Carnelian Bay. We had a pleasant time with them and their children, Olivia and Jack and the two dogs, Sophie and Woody. The next day we went to Meeks Bay to try out their new sea kayak. The sun is hot in strong at that elevation! Everyone got a turn in the boat. The next day Mike and I hiked at Emerald Bay State Park and then drove up to Inspiration Point before heading back to the cabin.

Today's show will feature an interview and live performance by guitarist Michael Gulezian, who is currently on his west coast tour. He'll be promoting his Fresno concert scheduled for this Friday at 8pm at the Big Red Church (if you live in Fresno you know what I'm taking about).

"Boundary-free, horizon-expanding, genre-bending, transcendent, soulful, kickass, mind-opening, exquisitely gorgeous instrumental solo acoustic guitar music. Michael Gulezian (gu-LAY-ze-in) continues to amaze fellow musicians as well as audiences new to the art of instrumental solo acoustic guitar. If you've never heard of Michael, you're in for a very pleasant surprise. He is one of the most highly regarded instrumental acoustic artists of our time. While it is visually breathtaking to watch him perform, a Michael Gulezian concert is more than a display of cutting-edge virtuosity – it is the blissful communion of master musician engaged with his audience in the mystery of self-revelation, creating music of atmospheric power, ecstatic joy, and haunting beauty. 777

Three sevens clash!! Rastafarians believed the apocalypse would begin when the two sevens clashed, with July 7th, 1977, when the four sevens clashed, the most fearsome date of concern. However, like that date, today came and went without a ripple. We went to the usual Saturday wine tasting at Bentley's Market, and once again got an invite to dinner at the Ernest house. This time Joe's wife Patti was in town, and cooked up some of her Cajun specialities. The photo shows their front porch still decorated for the Fourth of July. Yes, that flag does say Lynyrd Skynyrd, but it's all for a laugh.

Which Doctor Are You?

Your closest match is the Tenth Doctor

Alright mate! You’re the Tenth Doctor, that cheeky chappie in the geek chic gear, played so lightly by David Tennant.

Not quite as eccentric as the other Doctors (but just as clever, thanks very much), you’re a down-to-earth bloke who likes to have a laugh. Work hard, play hard, if you know what we mean. Wicked. Sorted. Nice.
